The ZBL-Foundation (Foundation for the Promotion of the "Scientific School Zunker-Busch-Luckner") is a registered Saxon foundation managed by the Stifterverband.

 It was the first environmental foundation founded in the newly-formed German states.  The ZBL-Foundation is under patronage of the German Federal President.

The statute of the ZBL-Foundation defines its tasks in sponsoring research, education, and post graduate study in the field of groundwater science. It awards a research prize (at the Research Days), grants for Ph.D. students and post docs, and for scientific exchange.
