The GFI GmbH Dresden was founded in 1995 as a spin off from the DGFZ and since then its institutional member.
Inside the Groundwater Research Centre Dresden, the GFI sustains the workforce of scientific employees and project directors which are supported by the Ph.D. Students at the DGFZ e.V.
According to its statute the GFI has the following fields of study:
- Resarch and development in the fields of
> soil and groundwater management,
> groundwater protection,
> groundwater monitoring,
> Treatment pf soil and groundwater systems,
> water management,
> water engineering und hydraulics -
Consultant and expert work (i.e. as official expert of the mining authority of saxony) in the above mentioned fields
- Planning, consulting and expert activities to above mentioned fields of activities
- Preparation of studies, reports, expert opinions, concepts and scientific projects for groundwater management, for groundwater protection, mining water management land improvement and
- scientific management of interdisciplinary, oriented applicative R & D projects.
Since its establishment, the GFI is involved exceedingly on issues of groundwater flow and transport modeling, the development of maritime and ground water quality in mining districts, including the implementation of field investigations, sampling and analysis by its own accredited testing laboratory, rehabilitation of mining landscapes and environmental liabilities, the legal conditions (EU-WFD, WHG) and the process and geotechnical engineering.
Through years of activity in the Lusatian and Central German mining area are extensive skills and experiences, particularly in the field of mining based hydrogeological and hydrochemical issues available, to allow a fair, technically sound, efficient and targeted treatment.
The GFI provides services as an independent consultant, free of any delivery and commission interests of third parties, and looks back on more than 15 years of stable economic development.
